Grammy award-winning Nigerian Afrobeats star, Temilade Openiyi, or as we all know and love her, Tems, has been featured on ELLE UK October edition cover.

The Nigerian-born, London-based star totally nailed it as she slays wearing luxury pieces from Vivienne Westwood, and Tiffany & Co to mark the occasion. Tems is The Trailblazer for the ELLE Style Awards, and we are loving every second of it.

Tems is one of the biggest Afrobeats artists, she’s worked with some of the biggest names, from Wizkid to Rihanna, Beyoncé , Drake, Justin Bieber, and so on. Her story is sure to inspire a lot of young girls in Nigeria, especially girls who could relate to how she grew up as an introvert who turned to music and poetry to help her through.

In her interview with Charlie Brinkhurst-Cuff for ELLE UK, she talks about everything, from quitting her 9-5 job to bet on herself, to her dream of working with Beyoncé. To put it simply, we’re in awe of Tems and the big part she’s played in putting Afrobeats on the map.

Speaking about working with Queen Bey, Tems said: “Beyoncé, girl I'm ready. Anytime she wants to pick up the phone, anything she wants to do, if she wants to release another album tomorrow, I’m there. I love everything she does.”

We can’t help but manifest this duo, just think about the magic they will make together. Tems also spoke about working with African artists, she stated in the interview: “I’ve been working with some Nigerian artists, i feel like everybody back home is killing it. I would love to work with all of them.”

Tems has always been that girl, from her breakout single ‘Mr Rebel’ which was released in 2018, to her collaboration with Wizkid, her story is literally what dreams are made up of.

She divulged a bit about growing up as a lonely teenager, and betting on herself to make her dreams come true. Reading her story will give you an immense push to go after your dreams, and bet on yourself.

The Grammy winner spoke about her journey in the past two years, she said: “I have learned so much, and I've had to learn so much. “I was super naive, as most people are that have a dream. You don’t realize the loss, or the things that you have to deal with, when you achieve this dream.”

With her ambitions and dreams partially fulfilled, she added that she wants to be someone that is full of love, peace, joy, and care. She says: “My new dream is just to be the most evolved person i can ever be.”

We can’t help but be in awe of Tems, and her journey so far, and we can’t wait to see what she does next.
