The best ways to take care of your skin begin with your daily shower habits, your skin health relies heavily on what your bathing habits are like, focusing solely on the products you use isn't going to cut it, you also need these really simple bathing habits to make things easier for you on your journey to keeping your skin as healthy as you can.

When we talk about bathing habits,, we're basically trying to suggest routines that will keep your skin pampered and fresh at all times. If you haven't noticed by now, having a tough skin shouldn't be taken quite literally, whether you have sensitive skin or normal skin, all skin types should be treated with utmost care and gentleness, which is why you're going to need to incorporate these routines into your shower habits.

I know you're thinking that taking a shower shouldn't be that deep, just go in and do your thing and your out, I hate to break this to you, but there are just certain things you need to stop doing when taking a shower, especially if they are damaging your skin and you don't realize it. Your skin is important and you must find habits that align with its importance, here are easy bathing habits to get that healthy skin you deserve.

When In Doubt, Go Lukewarm

This definitely only applies to your shower routine and not your life. Sometimes you might just be wondering, which is better for my skin, a cold shower or a hot shower? As the doubt goes around in circles, just remember that the answer is lukewarm water (you're welcome).  Research has shown that hot water isn't good for your skin, it's hard to take hot showers off your shower habits, but you'll just have to if you want to prevent skin issues.

Should I Use A Sponge On My Face?

This question goes hard when it comes to the daily shower habits of people . There's no hard and fast rule when it comes to this, a lot of things could work differently for a variety of people. A good rule of thumb when it comes to this can be broken down simply into these parts; Do not over-scrub your face, your fingertips are the best to help you wash your face to avoid slight irritations (make sure your hands are clean first), but if you're going to use a sponge, make sure it is soft and good.

Again, try not to rinse your face with hot water, and ensure you rinse properly. Your after-shower routine also plays a huge part in the entire equation, so make sure to use a clean towel meant for your face to gently pat your skin dry, also don't forget to moisturize!

Choose The Right Soap Or Body Wash For you

It's so easy to get spoiled for choice due to the immense number of options out there when it comes to soaps and body wash out there, it can be very confusing to keep up with every new product recommended to you online, the best thing to do is to find what works for you. The best thing is to go for soaps that are gentle with ingredients that are beneficial, from ingredients like glycerin, shea butter, and other ingredients known for providing moisture to the skin.

Long Showers Are A No-No

Yes, we're just as shocked as you are, but it turns out overstaying your welcome in the shower could lead to the dehydration of your skin, it could also weaken your skin's natural barrier and take away essential natural oils. So keep shower time to a limited time, try to not exceed 5-10 minutes, except it's really extenuating circumstances.

Exfoliation Is Your Friend

Exfoliating helps to get rid of dead skin cells, this inevitably means that your skin will get a fresh look afterward because you've taken care of product buildup and skin cells that are just no good anymore. With exfoliants, you have the option of choosing between a chemical exfoliant or a physical exfoliant.

Your choice depends on your skin type and what works for you, at the end of the day though, you should stick to exfoliating regularly, and just remember that over scrubbing will do your skin no good, so be gentle with your skin, no matter what your shower habits are.

After Shower Routine

Skincare still goes on even after you've come out of the shower, it is important to use a clean towel to pat your skin till its dry, it is also essential that you moisturize after you shower, don't spend time dilly-dallying that you get crusty before you remember to moisturize, experts say it's even better to moisturize while your skin is still damp.

Taking a shower doesn't have to be hard, but you do need to have good shower habits if you want your skin to be fresh and healthy, there are so many bad shower habits you could drop, and so many good shower habits to add to your routine, at the end of the day, you still need to go for what works for you. User products that work for you, from your head down to your toe, and if you happen to have issues that a shower routine won't fix, your safest bet would be a trip to the doctor's office.
