Love Island USA Season Seven Finale Has All The Tropes and All The Feels

The start of Love Island USA season 7 felt like a fever dream. It was like being stuck between the success of Love Island USA season 6 and the possibility the new season held. Pretty quickly, it was evident that Love Island season 7 would be nothing short of dramatic.

From Huda’s crashouts over Jeremiah, to conversations of love bombing, and mamacita anecdotes. This season was an absolute crash-out, so there was never a dull moment. However, it lacked the original recipes that make sense for the Love Island franchise, which is what truly defines it.

We witnessed genuine connections being torn apart, we saw game plays and tactical dumpings. While all of these were downsides of the season, we also witnessed the love of friendships, the ups and downs of it all, and most importantly, the art of self-love, courtesy of Amaya Papaya. The upside to this season, as the season finale went on, was that for each final couple, there was a unique trope, and isn't that what the real world is? A collection of tropes all just existing and driving to their final destination, a hope to find love?

Love Island USA Season 7 is now over, and we can all take a break from the shippers' war. It does not matter if you are Team Nicolandria or part of Huda HQ; we can all agree that love and kindness are the biggest takeaways of this season, so it’s important to put those lessons of self-growth to good use. Anyway, without any more fussing, here are the final four Love Island USA season 7 couples and the tropes they represent.

Amaya Espinal and Bryan Arenales- The Fairytale Romance

Amaya and Bryan Love Island USA

Amaya Papaya and Bryan Arenales walked away with the 100,000-dollar prize, and it couldn't be any more of a well-deserved win. Amaya Espinal, 25, entered the villa as a bombshell, but she didn't get off to a great start. Her journey was a testament to all those who have ever felt misunderstood.

Her first couple with Ace in the villa was a trainwreck, but Amaya stayed true to her most authentic self. Her epic quotes and “I never said I was perfect” soundtrack earned admiration and love from viewers. During her final date with Bryan, Amaya stated that she felt like Cinderella, and she had found her glass slipper and Prince Charming.

All we can say is, clock it. Amaya Espinal truly had her Cinderella story. At first, she was stuck in a rut, crying her eyes out and feeling misunderstood in every way possible. While she didn't need saving, Bryan offered a little light in the darkness the day he backed her in the Stand on Business Challenge, and we can't help but love that for her.

This fairytale romance trope is one we can't help but fangirl over, and while we have all fingers crossed, rooting for Amaya Papaya and Bryan to work out outside the villa, only time will tell. Regardless, we’re glad they got their happy ending, and they are well-deserved winners.

Olandria Carthen and Nic Vansteenberghe - Friends to Lovers

Nicolandria nation, stand up! The infamous friendship-to-lovers trope certainly stood out this season. Nicolandria shippers saw the vision from the very start of Love Island USA season 7, episode 1. Even while naysayers were telling these fans to stop being delusional, they stood ten toes on business, and boy, are we glad they did.

Olandria Carthen and Nic Vansteenberghe both started as OG love islanders this season. From the very first day, fans and viewers could already witness a connection, perhaps they missed all the signs as their journeys in the villa took them on quite different paths.

While they entered the villa on day 1, they weren't coupled up till day 16. Nic was focused on his strong connection with Cierra, and Olandria was focused on hers with Taylor. Luckily for the Nicolandria nation, their connections to their previous partners got severed one way or the other, and finally, their stars aligned.

Cierra was removed from Love Island Season 7 on day 26 after social media posts of her using a racial slur surfaced online. While Taylor found a new connection in Clarke, they were dumped from the villa on Day 28. Nic and Olandria finally saw the true vision, and this time, they were willing to give it a good shot. This time, they didn't bin off their connection as just a friendship, and they finally saw the connection they had this whole time, making it the ultimate friends-to-lovers trope.

Huda Mustafa and Chris Seeley- The Almost Lovers

Huda and Chris Love Island

In the mind-blowing two-hour finale of Love Island USA season 7, we witnessed the first-ever couple to break up during the final dates. A moment that was supposed to be about lovey-dovey dedications of love quickly turned into a tension-filled breakup.

We can all agree that Huda’s journey on Love Island was filled with crashouts and lessons. She began her journey in the villa with Jeremiah, their instant connection quickly turned into doom and misery, leading to Jeremiah’s exit from the villa. Huda Mustafa and Chris Seeley began their journey through Casa Amor, and at first, it seemed like a genuine connection, till it all fell apart.

The night before the final dates, Chris was trying to get some sleep, but Huda insisted they cuddled. That didn't go too well, as Huda had what looked like a mini tantrum in bed for not getting what she needed. The next day was filled with tension, and by the time their final date was going on, they came head-to-head.

It’s safe to say this was the most dramatic and left-turn final date in Love Island history. Both Huda and Chris tried to communicate their feelings, but it didn't matter. Their relationship was already bound for disaster, and Huda ultimately ended it. The unresolved tension, the miscommunication, and a series of unhealed patterns haunted their relationship in the end. They both walked away from each other with lessons and a third-place spot in the Love Island USA finale.

Iris Kendall and Pepe Garcia - Love In A Hopeless Place

Let's face it, Love Island USA Season 7 had a pattern of splitting up couples who had formed a genuine connection. Iris Kendall and Pepe Garcia bonded after they lost their strongest connections in the villa. Soon enough, their friendship turned into a romantic one.

I guess you could also say that they fall into the friendship-to-lover trope, but ultimately, they did find love in a hopeless villa. Pepe and Iris began their journey together as bombshells who walked in together, alongside Jalen. Each of them went on different paths to find love: Pepe with Hannah, Iris with Jeremiah, and ultimately, TJ.

In Love Island USA tragic fashion, Hannah was dumped from the villa, leaving Pepe sad and single. In the same way, TJ was dumped from the villa, leaving Iris vulnerable and single. Iris and Pepe found comfort in each other after going through the same ordeal, and this led them to form a romantic connection over the final week. It is safe to say that they couldn't keep their eyes off each other, and sparks were flying, and they ended up fourth place in the Love Island USA season 7 finale.
