Beautiful skin isn’t something you can achieve by wishing and hoping, you actually have to put in effort to make sure your skin is healthy. A good skincare routine goes a very long way in this regard, it helps you prevent skin issues, it helps get rid of existing issues, and it leaves you with a healthy glow.

If we didn't know any better, we'd say that skincare and all its routines are a chore, but the trick is to realize that it is the complete opposite. It is relaxing and maintaining a routine that is right for you, will make you feel that way. In the meantime, here are a few skincare dos and don'ts that will help you find your perfect skincare routine.

Do’s

Stay Hydrated

If you want to have healthy skin, it all starts from the inside. Your gut health can affect what your skin looks like, so to be healthy on all fronts, you need to make your water intake a priority, drinking lots of water keeps you hydrated, and it also nourishes your skin, keeps you healthy, and flushes out toxins from your body.

Moisturize

Moisturizing in itself is an art form, it keeps your skin soft and light, and essentially moisturizers work perfectly if it is light, it wouldn’t clog your pores and the plus side is that you stay fresh and your skin doesn’t get dry.

Eat Healthy

Eating healthy is a no-brainer, we get so caught up in the skincare products of it all that we forget to do the basics. Eating healthy is underrated and it does more than you realize. Have a healthy diet and eat food that has essential vitamins and minerals like fruits and vegetables.

Exfoliate

Exfoliating now and then helps your skin glow, you definitely shouldn’t exfoliate every day, once a week is fine. That’s more than enough time to get rid of dead skin cells that are stopping your shine.

Wear Sunscreen

Sunscreen should be an important step in your skincare routine. The truth is, it’s not everyone’s cup of tea, but with the right sunscreen for you, it will do you a lot of good.

Don’ts

Sleeping With Makeup On

While sleeping is another great skincare routine on its own, sleeping with makeup on is where you lose that battle. You’re essentially sleeping with all the dirt collected by your makeup throughout the day, and it’s just not cute, so no matter how lazy you are, wipe off your makeup and clean your face, your skin will be glad you did.

Don’t Take All Skin Advice

We live in a fast-paced world where everyone online is telling you what to use on your skin, while some are helpful, you need to be wary of uncertain skincare advice. To be on the safe side, always visit professionals or ask the right questions when it comes to your skin. You don’t have to use every product suggested by someone on TikTok.

Stop Touching Your Face

When you have pimples and whatnot, it's super easy to keep touching your face and prodding at that pimple, but you shouldn't. Especially when your hands are unclean, that could lead to more problems than you anticipated.

Stress Is A No-No

Stress is known to make certain skin issues worse, it makes your skin more sensitive by causing a chemical response in your body. If you can help it, try your best to stay away from stress and even when you are, maintain your skincare routine.

Don't Give Up

It's so easy to want to give up, especially when we're not getting the exact results we want on time, but just remember that everything is a process and healing takes time. Don't give up on your routine of products easily, and don't jump from one product to a different product, chances are you're not giving it enough time to do what it's meant to do.
