In 1990s Northern Ireland during the Troubles, Derry Girls follows a group of Catholic schoolgirls, and James getting through adolescence in the most hilarious way possible. Lisa McGee really did her big one with this sitcom that is funny, almost relatable and lovely. Derry Girls also tackles the sensitive political subject matter of that time, it blends in family, and the coming of age trope, all in one, in a light hearted manner.
