Afrobeats sensation Ayra Starr has just achieved a groundbreaking milestone, becoming the first Nigerian female artist to earn an RIAA (Recording Industry Association of America) Latin Diamond certification. Her chart-topping single, ‘Santa’, officially crossed the 10 million units sales mark in the United States, solidifying her status as a global music powerhouse.

Originally released in 2024 as part of Ayra Starr’s highly successful sophomore album, The Year I Turned 21, ‘Santa’ quickly became a viral sensation. The track’s infectious melody, dynamic beats, and electrifying Spanish-infused lyrics have earned it a top spot on international music charts and widespread critical acclaim.

According to Pulse, for an African artist to receive an RIAA Latin Diamond certification, the song must sell over 10 million units within the U.S. Latino market and feature a mix of Spanish and English lyrics. Ayra Starr’s genre-blending smash hit ‘Santa’, featuring Puerto Rican star Rauw Alejandro and Jamaican producer-artist Rvssian, perfectly embodies this fusion. The song weaves together Afrobeats rhythms with Reggaeton influences, making it an irresistible anthem that resonates with audiences worldwide.

Following the massive success of her debut album, Young & Dangerous, this new achievement proves that Ayra Starr is not just a rising star—she’s a global phenomenon. Her music continues to transcend borders, redefining the sound of contemporary Afrobeats on the world stage.

The 22-year-old singer recently took to Instagram to share a heartfelt moment with her fans. In a video, she showcased her impressive keyboard skills while performing an acoustic rendition of ‘Santa.’ The clip instantly went viral, with fans and industry peers—including DJ Cuppy—praising her raw talent and artistry.

This historic win is a testament to Ayra Starr’s relentless dedication, innovation, and ability to push Afrobeats into new frontiers. With her chart dominance and genre-defying sound, one thing is clear—Ayra Starr is here to stay!
