Tyla is officially the first ever Grammy winner for the newly created category - Best African Music Performance at the 2024 Grammy Awards, for her hit song, Water.
The South African star made history at the 66th edition of the Grammy Awards which took place on February 5, 2024; Winning the award over Davido, Burna Boy, Ayra Starr, Asake and Olamide.
The singer was shocked to receive the award, and in usual-iconic Tyla fashion, her speech showed it. "What the heck?!" she stated on stage. "This is crazy, I never thought Iād say I won a GRAMMY at 22 years old."
Her win is going in history as the Grammy Awards has taken a step to celebrate music from all over the world.
Tylaās acceptance speech will surely inspire a lot of people all over the world who dare to dream. During her acceptance speech, the singer appreciated her family, saying āI know my motherās crying somewhere in here.ā
