When it comes to books turning into movies, the Nollywood industry is still a few steps behind, and this is especially crazy because of the insane number of talented writers and incredible novels we have. I do not come to you by chance is a fan favorite, and it's about time they decided to make a movie out of it.

The award-winning 2009 novel, written by Adaobi Tricia Nwaubani, tells the story of a young man living in Nigeria, as he's saddled with the responsibility of being the first son in a Nigerian home, the contemporary novel also gives insight into the proverbial world of email scams. It will be interesting to see how the movie brings to life the ups and downs Kingsley has to go through to make it in life.

The "I Do Not Come To You By Chance" project is set to take center stage at the Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF) 2023 Centerpiece program, this event was previously known as Contemporary World Cinema, and it showcases 47 titles from 45 different countries, the aim of this platform is to celebrate achievements that are being made in global cinema.

The movie adaptation is definitely going to be one for the history books, it is set to be directed by Ishaya Bako, the director of films such as Road to Yesterday and The Royal Hibiscus Hotel. The film also has a star studded cast that includes names like Paul Nnadiekwe, Blossom Chukwujekwu, Beverly Osu, Jennifer Eliogu, Sambasa Nderibe, and others.

Just like the novel of the same name, the movie follows the story of a Nigerian graduate trying to figure out his life after graduation, unfortunately, his path leads him to partaking in fraudulent email scams along with his Uncle. What made the novel so loved is how beautifully the writer told the story, and how intertwined English and Igbo are used to tell the story, the same will be done in the movie but according to sources, unlike the book, the characters will be speaking igbo mostly, and we can say without a doubt that it will be cinematic gold to see how this plays out for the Nigerian and global audience.

The new film also marks a Nollywood return for Genevieve Nnaji, who took a five year hiatus after her Netflix original "Lionheart" came to the spotlight. Genevieve Nnaji will take on the role of executive producer with this movies adaptation, "I Do Not Come To You By Chance". The film was carefully selected to make its world premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival on September 7, 2023, and without a doubt, we can say that this is the beginning of Nollywood's journey into making more movie adaptations based on exceptional novels.

I Do Not Come To You By Chance is one of the best novels in Nigeria, it forces readers, and every individual to realize the power of making choices. The main character of the story has to decide between being poor and having morals, you'll definitely want to see how it plays out when he's faced with tough decisions.
