If you’re reading this, there’s a highly lovable chance that you have someone in your life you care about deeply, but you’re also reasonably confused about what to do to show love to your person on Valentine’s day.
No doubt, Valentine’s day has become a commercialized scheme for people to make money, but if we break down all of that extra weight, it still remains a day with the sole purpose of showing love to everyone around you. With that in mind, let’s get down to the nitty-gritty of it all. You know your partner better than anyone else, whether you’ve been dating for a year or years, or even a couple months, you know what they like and what they don’t like, you also have an inkling of what their love languages are.
We all give and receive love in different ways, that’s what love languages mean, and there’s five of them. All of which are going to help you figure out the most thoughtful way to show love on Valentine’s day.
Acts of Service
Writing this, my mind immediately darted off to the married couples in the house, if your husband or wife is into Acts of service, this is the one for you.
While acts of service matter in every relationship, it especially matters in a marriage. Think of all the helpful actions your partner must be craving in their life. We know life can get hard and it’s easy to forget the little things, but even the littlest helpful act could go a long way.
As long as it’s something that makes your partner’s life easier, you’re going in the right direction. You could cook a meal, this is one of the best ideas based on who does the cooking most of the time. Let’s say your wife cooks every single day, today would be the perfect day to make sure she stays off her feet; make her breakfast in bed, do the chores, and every other act that might just be helpful.
Receiving Gifts
Gift giving on Valentine's Day has become the most popular chain of demand, there’s a lot of ideas on the types of gifts you should give to someone whose love language is receiving gifts. The rule of thumb is to go for a meaningful gift with value. The act of giving and receiving gifts is undoubtedly powerful, but you have to remember to put a lot of thought into the gift, as opposed to focusing on the material value.
Gift ideas could range from personalized gifts that would mean a lot to this person, be it tech inspired, clothing apparels, skincare packages, customized jewelry, customized journals, food hampers for foodies, and so much more.
Quality Time
There’s nothing like quality time to show love. If your partner is big on quality time, today will be the day to give them extra quality time and attention. The last thing you need is a salty partner on Valentine’s day. So here’s the plan; come up with an idea that ensures you spend a lot of time together, this could be a dinner date or any other kind of date throughout the day. It could also be like a movie night-in kind of date with all the things they love.
Words Of Affirmation
Some people are suckers for words of affirmation and we don’t blame them. If you’re going to have a busy work day on Valentine’s day. Who says you still can’t be proactive and show love. Send your partner flowers with handwritten notes or love letters telling them how much you love them, why you love them, and how special they are to you.
You could also take it up a notch by sending cute love messages throughout the day via text to your partner. You could send cute gifs, cute videos, and even write poetry. Write them words of encouragement and appreciation.
Physical Touch
Physical touch as a love language is a no brainer, you need to show love to people with this love language in a way that honors them, and in a way that they personally prefer. Whether that’s by holding hands on the way to a date or kissing, hugging, and other forms of touch. This is a special way of reaffirming the spark you both have for each other.
Whatever you decide to do for your partner this Valentine’s day, just remember that the reason for it all boils down to love, and not just a commercial show of love. Treat them right, and if you’re feeling extra lucky to have them, all five love languages could comfortably be used throughout the entire day.
